Formula 1 fans that were watching Friday's free practice sessions would have guessed that Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg possessed an early advantage at Bahrain, but it looks like Hamilton will be starting at the front of the grid once again. Lewis Hamilton as the fastest during all three parts of qualifying and took pole with a blistering fastest lap of 1:32.571.

“The laps were pretty good, you can always improve, but I am really grateful to have this beast underneath me, which I can really attack these corners with," said Lewis Hamilton. “I think last year I wasn't comfortable with the car to really be able to do so. It is a great feeling.”

Meanwhile, Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg, who challenged Lewis down to the nail-biting wire in the 2014 season, continues to struggle this season and could only set a personal best that was a distant 0.558 seconds behind. In fact, Sebastian Vettel managed to muscle his Ferrari to lap more than a tenth ahead of Rosberg to upset a Mercedes 1-2 grid lockout.

“Strategy-wise I got it wrong,” said Nico Rosberg. “I was thinking too much about the race and I underestimated Seb's speed, and also how much it would cost me by taking it easier in qualifying two on the race-set of tyres.  "I just lacked rhythm as a result and I just had one shot at it in the end with a new set, so that's where I went wrong today. I'm disappointed because Sebastian beat me. If I'd been second that would have been damage limitation, but being third is not really not ideal.”

“First of all I'm very happy with second today,” Sebastian Vettel said after he qualified ahead of Nico. “It was a tough session. At the beginning I didn't really find the rhythm that I seemed to have in practice but then towards the end more and more it was getting better, I was feeling happier in the car and I felt more comfortable to push.  “For now I'm very happy with the front row and hopefully tomorrow we can have a good start and then a good race from there. I think in the race we are maybe a bit closer so we will see what happens.”

We are only at the fourth race of the 2015 Formula 1 season, but it looks like reigning world champion Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton already possesses maximum momentum over the rest of the drivers for the Bahrain Grand Prix at Sakhir.
