Aly Villegas
Aly Villegas appeared in an episode of the reality court show "Caso Cerrado" claiming she didn't really know her father and wanted to remove his last name and only keep her mother's last name. Was this even true? Univision

A new scandal has risen surrounding one of the “Nuestra Belleza Latina” finalists. In a video from 2009 that’s been making rounds online lately, you can see NBL finalist Aly Villegas suing her mom in the famous Latino reality court show, “Caso Cerrado” because she claims her dad never took care of her and she wanted to remove his last name and keep her mom’s. Aly’s mom doesn’t want to let her change her last name because she doesn’t want people calling her daughter a “bastard” because she was born while her parents were married, and because she allegedly doesn’t want to go through the process of going back to Mexico, where Aly was supposedly born, to change everything over there because she claims it’s way more complicated.

Aly presented herself to Judge Ana María Polo as Daniela Montes Villegas, and her mom presented herself as Yuliana Villegas. Both explained the case, and the mom, “Yuliana,” claimed she agreed with what her daughter had said about her dad, basically that he abandoned them a little after she was born, that he never paid child support and never tried to be a part of their lives. Dr. Polo brought in a witness, Juan Fernando Montes, who claimed to be Aly’s dad. He said that after a night of drinks, he and Aly’s mom got together and that’s where Aly came from. He added that he did the right thing by marrying “Yuliana” when they found out she was pregnant, but ended up divorced 10 months later.

He brought in documentation that he was up to date with all child support payments, and he revealed that his daughter and her mother were illegals in this country. However, he presented another document which granted Aly or “Daniela” American residence that he had gotten when he remarried a political refugee. Eventually, “Daniela” dropped the lawsuit and kept her father’s name, gave him a hug, and Dr. Polo lectured the mother on what she had kept secret from her daughter.

Now, if we’ve learned something about Aly Villegas from “Nuestra Belleza Latina” is that when she auditioned, she said her name was “Elia.” We’ve also found out that her mom’s name is María and she doesn’t look anything like the woman in the video. Aly has opened up about her life on the show, saying that she was born in Detroit, Michigan, but moved to Mexico when she was two, making her an American citizen since she was born in the country. She has two younger sisters, Iarazú Villegas and Gaby Villegas. She moved back to the US when her mom got pregnant with Gaby, who has Down syndrome. In the video from “Caso Cerrado” Aly, or “Daniela,” claimed she was 17, however, Aly was born in 1990, and if the video is from 2009, that would’ve made her 19 at the time.

This scandal comes right before the new winner of “Nuestra Belleza Latina” is announced next Sunday, and Aly is competing for the crown. This also makes us think if “Caso Cerrado” is a scripted show, or if Aly is hiding something. What do you think of the whole thing?
