The América vs Toluca game in the final week of the Liga MX Apertura season will be taking place on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 5:30 pm ET/ 4:30 pm CT/ 2:30 pm PT. You can watch the game on Univision or follow the link here to catch a live stream online. Every time Club América plays Los Diablos de Toluca (The Devils of Toluca), fans go wild for their respective teams. For the Liga Bancomer MX, both Club América and Los Diablos de Toluca have made it to the playoffs, with América having 36 points at first place and Toluca with 26 points in fifth place. Incidentally, both teams cannot play for the Copa Libertadores as they took part in this year’s CONCACAF Champion’s League.
"America, who qualified with four matches to spare, made sure of finishing top of the table despite a 0-0 draw at Queretaro on Friday and will meet the team finishing eighth in the quarter-finals," writes the Chicago Tribune of the Liga MX Apertura season. "Second-placed Santos Laguna lost 2-1 at Chiapas on Saturday and are four points behind with one round to go in the league phase. Santos, Cruz Azul, Leon and Toluca have secured places in the last eight with Chiapas, Morelia and Queretaro occupying the other three qualifying berths while UANL Tigres and Tijuana are mathematically still in the running."
With both teams heading into the playoffs, this match will be very reflective of the future of the two teams. Thus far, Club América has proven to be the stronger of the two teams, as the team has secured its spot in the playoffs four games in. What's more, the teams ranks number one with 36 points--a statistic much higher than its competitors. That said, only time will tell which team will win in this match, as the Devils of Toluca are not far behind at second place. Fun fact: A February 2013 poll conducted by Mexican pollster Consulta Mitofsky found that Club América is Mexico's second-most popular football club (16.6 percent approval rating) and also the most hated club in Mexico with a 40.9 disapproval rating.
