The Season 4 premiere episode of “American Horror Story” is set to debut on FX on October 8th, and until the highly anticipated premiere of the mini series’ new season, the network is content with teasing it’s fans with episode synopses and stimulating cast portraits. However, while taking a closer look at the “Freak Show” cast we were most intrigued by this season’s villains and surprisingly we are thinking there are going to be two major players, in what this season which show runner Ryan Murphy describes as “too scary.”

The first villain fans of “American Horror Story” will meet is Twisty the Clown, and while he may sound like a friendly “Freak Show” friend, the devil is in the details with his clown, specifically in his name. Twisty is no ordinary clown and is considered “the most terrifying clown of all time," Murphy explained that even the writer’s room was terrified when developing the concept for the character portrayed by actor John Carroll Lynch. "We said in the writer's room that if we were going to do clowns, we were going to create the most terrifying clown of all time. When you see why he's a clown and why he's wearing the mask…just you wait."

In a leaked casting sheet, multiple spoilers were exposed, mainly in regards to the premiere episode of “Freak Show.” The official FX synopsis confirmed that “American Horror Story” Season 4 will be set in Jupiter, Florida in 1952, the town is described as a “quiet, sleepy hamlet.” But that’s before the “Freak Show” arrives. The synopsis continues, “a troupe of curiosities has just arrived to town, coinciding with the strange emergence of a dark entity that savagely threatens the lives of townsfolk and freaks alike.” In addition to the synopsis, fans learned some seriously terrifying premiere episode spoilers, in addition to the episode title “Monster Among Us,” one of the serious villains will be introduced and his crimes exposed.

“Twisty the Clown” kills the Bachman family, who are residents of Jupiter. The synopsis does not touch upon the tragic crime, but certainly gives fans a description of the murderer; “this is the story of the performers and their desperate journey of survival amidst the dying world of the American Carny experience.” The second episode of the mini series is entitled “Massacres and Matinees,” which most likely means the terrible massacre of the Bachmann family is discovered by Jupiter police, and the circus is gaining attention in the small town but maybe not just for entertainment.

In addition to “Twisty the Clown,” the series is gaining a second villain in the third and fourth episodes. Titled “Edward Mordrake Pt.1” and “Edward Mordrake Pt.2,” the episodes will clearly introduce the character of Edward Mordrake, who while fictional in the “Freak Show” universe, is inspired by the supposed real life person and legend. Edward Mordrake, also referred to as “Poor Edward,” was said to be born with a deformity, while the legend is not based in historical fact, the story is more or less always the same.

According to The Human Marvel, Mordrake was born in the 19th century to one of England’s wealthiest family, and when viewed from the front he was considered a handsome heir. However on the back of his head he had second “evil” face and supposed parasitic twin. Reports claim that the second face could not exactly speak, however “Poor Edward” stated that he would be kept awake by the hateful whispers of his “evil twin.” The legend continues that Edward eventually committed suicide at the tender young age of 23. “American Horror Story” fans can expect both “Twisty the Clown” and “Edward Mordrake” to be haunted terribly by their deformities and role in the “Freak Show” causing them to become the villains and source of evil in the series.
