American Idol
The contestants are all vying for a spot in the Top 10! If they make it through this week they'll earn a spot in the IDOL™ summer tour. What better way to prepare for stardom than singing "Songs from the Cinema?” The task was for the Top 11 to pick songs written for a movie or a song that is prominently featured in a film. Fox

Season 13 of “American Idol” is well underway and last night finally the Top 11 demonstrated and proved to the judges and America why they deserve a chance in the Top 10, a lucky group of talented artists that get to go on the summer tour around the United States. Also they proved they deserve a chance to sing for America on the Idol stage.

The theme of last night’s show was “Songs from the Cinema.” So contestants had to sing songs written for a movie or featured in a movie. After bouncing back from last week, week in which contestants received for the most part negative feedback, the contestants did a great job and received positive feedback.

Sam Woolf opened the night by singing “Come Together” by The Beatles. Jessica Meuse sang “The Sound of Silence” by Simon and Garfunkel. CJ Harris came out and killed it by singing “Can’t You See” by Marshall Tucker Band. Dexter Roberts paid tribute to his home state by singing “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynard Skynard. Ben Briley took on Elton John by singing “Bennie and the Jets.” Majesty Rose sang Idina Menzel’s “Let It Go.” Caleb Johnson sang Adele’s “Skyfall.” MK Nobilette took on Bob Dylan and sang “To Make You Feel My Love.” Alex Preston sang “Falling Slowly,” Jena Irene sang “Decode” by Paramore and Malaya took on Jennifer Hudson’s “I Am Changing.”

Judging on last night’s performances it can be said that Majesty Rose might be in trouble. She just didn’t live up to expectations compared to all the other contestants that did such a great job. Stay tuned to see if she is the one going home and if the judges will use their only save of the season on her or for that matter, anyone who gets eliminated. Here are some videos of the standout performances that received standing ovations from the judges last night!
