Mexican recording artist Ana Bárbara is dedicated to her children and her career, and though at 44, she's happy, Barbara fesses up that not everything was "color de rosas" growing up.

According to TVNotas, the songstress from Rioverde, Mexico, was a victim of domestic violence. "Yes, my father was very strict," she said of her dad Antero Ugalde. "He would hit my siblings and I a lot, he would get out of hand and it hurt a lot," she recalled.

The "Te Atraparé... Bandido" singer, who is the third born of six siblings, stated that her father had a strong character. However, she never held any grudges with her dad and on the contrary, owes him a lot. "My father taught us how to be grateful, to be honest, something I am truly thankful for," she added.

On lighter news, it's rumored that the songstress will form part of a new reality show as a celebrity judge. The show, which is expected to find the next banda grupera, will air on Azteca. The news is yet to be confirmed and announced.
