A movie for all the young girls who have always wondered what it would be like to live inside a telenovela. “Ana Maria in Novela Land” follows the lives of two young girls whose looks are very similar but live in totally different worlds. Both characters played by Edy Ganem, Ana María, a normal girl in her twenties, lives in Los Angeles with her tight knit family who can be a little overbearing, and Ariana Tomosa is a telenovela star that is part of this fantasy world inside a soap opera. When Ana wishes her life was just like the novela she’s watching, it becomes a reality when she wakes up to realize she’s switched lives with Ariana.

This was Elizabeth Peña's final film, as the star passed away in October. Peña plays Ana María’s mom, and other members of the cast include, Carla Morrison, Michael Steger, Tamara Taylor, Nestor Serrano, Mercedes Mason and Luis Guzmán. The film directed by Georgina García Riedel and produced for Telemundo division Fluency, which is part of NBCUniversal’s Hispanic Enterprises and Content, will open in theatres on February 27, 2015 all over the US.

“Devious Maids” star Edy Ganem got the chance to play a dual, breakthrough role as both of the main characters, in the film that in the end goes to show both characters that all a young girl needs in order to be happy is faith in herself and true love.
