According to various sites Google is rumored to be announcing a release date for its new operating system, Android L, early October. Even more the new os could launch alongside a new 9-inch Nexus tablet. This falls in line with a claim from Android Authority that said Android L will be not “officially be available until November 1.″

Android L was first revealed back in June at the Google I/O developer conference. And since then two developer previews have been made available for both the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 devices. Though the "L" hasn't been given a sweet tasty title like previous versions there are two popular names floating around the web including Lollipop or Android 5.0 Lemon Meringue Pie.

Though the new os hasn't received an official release date it is being rumored that it will arrive alongside a new Nexus tablet. This is because the new tablet will most likely be running the new Android software.

According to Wall Street Journal Google will definitely be announcing the 9-inch Nexus tablet either Oct. 8 or Oct. 16. If this is indeed true then we can expect to see the product at the end of October or early November and it is highly likely that the new os launch alongside the device.

Users who update to Android L will see a new interface called Material Design, improved battery life via Project Volta and an updated notifications panel. This is expected to be a major update over the current version, Android KitKat.
