Apple announced last week that it would be releasing its second watchOS software to the public Wednesday, Sept. 16 alongside iOS 9, however the company has backtracked and delayed the launch due to a recently discovered bug, reports MacRumors.

An Apple spokesperson told TechCrunch, "We have discovered a bug in development of watchOS 2 that is taking a bit longer to fix than we expected. We will not release watchOS 2 today but will shortly."

Apple did release the final beta version of watchOS 2 to developers following last weeks media event, but will need more time to fix the bug before releasing it to the public.

The new operating system adds a handful of new features including expanded Siri support, transit directions, photo watch faces, the ability to travel through a timeline to check weather and appointments and expanded Wi-Fi support when the device is out of range of an iPhone. WatchOS 2 also gives developers building applications the ability to directly access its sensors and stream data more efficiently between the iPhone and the watch.
