In the first leg of one of the most eagerly anticipated Round of 16 matchups, Arsenal Vs. Barcelona playing UEFA Champions League starting at 1:45 pm. Barcelona aim to keep their hopes alive of becoming the first team to retain the Champions League title against an Arsenal side trying to prevent a sixth consecutive exit in the knockout round. Arsenal’s manager says No team is perfect, but Barcelona are not far from it. “We need to take our chances.”

This first game at the Emirates will be particularly significant for Arsenal Wenger’s side, having lost the first match at home at this stage in each of the last three seasons. And Wenger will also be well aware of the importance or trying to get an advantage to take back to the Camp Nou for the second leg in three weeks’ time.

Both teams met in the Champion League knockout phase in both 2010 and 2011, when despite recording a creditable 2-2 draw and a 2-1 victory in the home first round, Barcelona swept them aside at the Comp Nou. Lionel Messi has being the main thorn in Arsenal’s side, scoring six goals over those two matchups. And five-time Ballon de Oro winner now has the company in attack of the equally prolific Luis Suarez and Neymar.

Barcelona is the favorite, Arsenal have lost their last two home and home knockout games against Barcelona and do not look to be firing on all cylinders. Some Arsenal’s problems are the impotency of their attack this season. Normally, this is the time of year when Arsenal go from strength to strength, but his particularly year, for whatever season, their attackers have been misfiring. Today Arsenal’s game against the consensus best club team in the world is the highlight of the day. Barcelona has got the “Liga” race well in hand, helped on the weekend by Real Madrid’s draw with Malaga while Arsenal is still grasping for the top slot behind a surprising Leicester.
