From November 15, 2013 to January 6, 2014 Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California will embrace the Latino culture with a special street parade called "Viva Navidad." Each day from November to January join Disneyland and "attend a colorful and fun celebration of Latino culture and holiday Traditions." In a description of the festivities the Disneyland website says, "Catch the joyous spirit of the holidays during a high energy street party. Leading the jubilation are the Three Caballeros: Donald Duck and his amigos Panchito from Mexico and Carioca from Brazil."
The street party will feature food and music from the various cultures of Latin America as well as a classic Disney flare. Teaming up with the Three Caballeros will be mariachi and samba bands, folklorico dancers and Donald's Disney friends like Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy and more! The party will also feature 12-foot-tall mojiganga puppets of Mr. and Mrs. Claus. "Viva Navidad will take over Paradise Gardens in Disney's California Adventure. Mary Niven the VP of Disney California Adventure and Guest Services spoke with Fox Latino about the Latino holiday party.
"We have authentic food, dance and music...based and inspired on the wonderful traditions of the Mexican culture during the holiday season. Mickey and Minnie are here...and they are in their Mexican finest attire and welcoming all our guests," Niven said to Fox. Disney will also be debuting the "World of Color - Winter Dreams." The new winter show will have new music and special effects including a stage of water, color and light shooting out of almost 1,200 fountains. The show "Features Olaf, this loveable snowman from the upcoming Disney movie 'Frozen,'" Niven said.
"We are so excited to have him host the show for us," Niven told Fox. There will be about six performances per day as the "Viva Navidad" street party rocks the Disneyland Resort. Disney blogger Ana Flores wrote on babble.com that she had seen the show three times in two days and "wish I could go back for more because each time the family and I have a blast. Oh, how it made me miss spending Christmas in El Salvador or Mexico with our family and friends."
