New York City is not the only city preparing for an extravagant Thanksgiving Day Parade. Chicago will host the 79th Annual McDonald's Thanksgiving Parade on Thursday, Nov. 22.

Route

The parade will take place between 8 and 11 a.m. and march from Downtown Chicago on State Street - from Congress to Randolph. The parade heads north on State Street starting at Congress Parkway and concluding at Randolph Street.

Live Broadcast

The parade will broadcast nationally on WGN America. Last year, over 3.5 million people watched the parade on TV and about 400,000 people are expected to line the streets to watch the festivities.

Ronald McDonald, the second-most-know character for U.S. children, will once again lead the parade as Honorary Grand Marshal.

Santa Claus and Mrs Clause will also be on hand to help spread the holiday spirit.

Balloons

Arthur, Tom & Jerry, Curious George, Woody Woodpecker, and Paddington Bear will also fly in the Chicago skies tomorrow morning.

Inflation of the balloons that will be going down the parade route is approximated to begin at 4 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

Also making appearances at the parade are Cycle 8 winner of America's Next Top Model Jaslene Gonzalez, second runner up of American Idol Haley Reinhart, Miss Illinois, Miss Chicago and WWE Champion CM Punk.

Thanksgiving travel in Chicago is chaotic as dense fog has forced the cancelation and delays of over 1,000 flights at O'Hare and Midway airports.

The National Weather Service's Thanksgiving Day forecast for the state includes a 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 3 p.m. with a high near 63.
