Iron Man's "true identity" was not enough to please one-year-old superfan Jaxson Denno.

The excited toddler was ready to come face-to-face with his hero only to be greeted by Robert Downey Jr. instead. Without his suit, Denno refused to believe he was meeting the one and only Iron Man and began to cry. Downey proceeded to console the saddened child with his mother, Heather Denno, who said her son was fine once he was given a little explanation.

"He was fine as soon as he talked to him," Jaxson's mother, Heather Denno, told People Magazine. She said her son "was so confused because I kept telling him it was Iron Man and he knew it wasn't. Well, not Iron Man in the suit."

The pair ran into Downey while he was in Sunderland and Shelburne Falls shooting for his new role in "The Judge," the Daily Mail reported. While his billionaire alter-ego image didn't get a positive review by the toddler, Downey did manage to clear things up, posing for pictures with the boy and his mother.

"He was there for 10 minutes just to get a good picture and make Jaxson smile. And his people kept telling him he had to leave and was late for shooting, so I can't believe he stayed," Heather Denno told reporters. "He was amazing. You could tell he was a dad with a young son."

The 48-year-old actor is said to be in the process of signing on to a $100 million deal to rejoin the cast of "The Avengers" following the great success of "Iron Man 3."
