The producers responsible for the "Fifty Shades of Grey" film have placed a casting call on Actingauditions.org, meaning that progress is finally being made to cast the leads of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. The casting call was reportedly leaked, and the announcement revealed that the movie is currently in pre-production. For those not familiar with movie lingo, pre-production is the point when producers and executives begin to assemble a crew, cast roles, and decide on shooting locations.
So while this is a very vital and exciting step for bringing to life "50 Shades of Grey" we are still in the beginning. According to several rumors, "Fifty Shades of Grey" is scheduled to begin shooting in the fall. In addition, the casting call auditions were now officially closed therefore we are expecting a casting decision to be made at any moment.
So who will be cast as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele? The speculation surrounding the casting of the erotic novel penned by E.L. James has been incessant. Fans were first told that "Vampire Diaries" heart throb Ian Somerhalder would play the sexy and iconic role of Christian Grey but after Comic-Con in San Diego, James admitted that Somerhalder just didn't see like the right fit. By the way it seems fans completely disagree, and so does Somerhalder who portrays the sexy and mischievous vampire, Damon Salvatore alongside Nina Dorbev on the CW's smash hit.
Somerhalder was recently filmed leaving LAX and when asked by the paparazzi about his rumored new role, he certainly seemed bitter. X17 online posted a video of Somerhalder discussing the casting of "Fifty Shades of Grey" with photographers. When a member of the paparazzi asks him, who is going to play the rule, he remarks, "I don't know, you tell me." Fans also rallied behind the idea of Matt Bomer being cast in the movie. Bomer, who is best known for his role on "White Collar," certainly looks the part.
As for the role of Anastasia Steele, this rumor mill has been churning since before a movie was even scheduled. Fans first wanted Alexis Bedel to play the role, then Ellen Page, Maybe Anna Kendrick, Rachel Bilson, Mila Kunis, Lily Collins or Lucy Hale, we have literally heard it all! But with no official word from E.L. James or the producers, we will just have to wait and see!
