When you look at your timeline on Twitter, how many spelling and grammar mistakes can you spot? In the social network's music world, you might not find too many errors in Beyonce's or Daddy Yankee's tweets, but with DJ Pauly D and Justin Bieber, you'll feel like a spelling bee champ.
A writing enhancement app, Grammarly, sampled 100 musicians on Twitter and had proofreaders examine their 25 most recent tweets for any mistakes, as first reported by USA Today. With the 140-character limit on the social site, errors were bound to arise and nobody received a perfect score.
Female musicians were the least prone to make mistakes with a score of 14.2, as opposed to male musicians that make 15.7 errors. In the music genre category, hip-hop artists make the most mistakes with 18.4 errors. R&B artists follow closely with 15.4, pop stars with a 10 and Latin performers at 6.3, but the best spellers are rockers with 0.8 errors. As far as grammar goes, Latin artists are best with 5.4 as opposed to hip-hop stars with 14.3 mistakes.
Daddy Yankee is the only Latin performer to be in the top 10 scoring 3.6 errors per 100 words, above Kelly Rowland, Jonas Brothers and Ludacris. The highest score goes to Beyoncé with only 2.1 mistakes per 100 words followed by Coldplay, Maroon 5 and One Direction. At the bottom of the list and the worst spellers are Justin Bieber (29.5), Jaden Smith, (26.4), Nicki Minaj (33.7) and Snoop Dogg with 35.8. The one that takes the cake is DJ Pauly D with 55.6 errors per 100 words, more than half of what the "Jersey Shore" star tweets is pure garbage.
