Wisin y Yandel are coaches on "La Voz México" and the audience is loving it! The Nieman Group/La Voz México

Puerto Rican reggaeton prodigies Wisin y Yandel debuted as coaches of "La Voz México" on Sunday in a spectacular show that broke records in ratings with 28 million viewers in Mexico alone. The urban duo joined the show to offer their expertise and talent to the aspiring artists wanting to become "the voice" of Mexico alongside ballad legend Marco Antonio Solís, veteran rocker chic Alejandra Guzmán and Spanish sensation David Bisbal. The coaches began this season singing Solís' famous composition "Tu Cárcel" with an urban-pop twist produced by Wisin.

Having Wisin y Yandel on the show has proved to be an incredible success, since the duo instantly became a Twitter worldwide "Trending Topic" minutes after "La Voz México" started, with followers watching from all over the world, but especially Mexico, expressing their approval and once more, praising the producers' decision to include them in the coaches panel.

More proof of the duo's popularity in the Aztec territory is the fact that all their concert dates are already sold out nationwide. Wisin y Yandel had to open another date in the Auditorio Nacional, where they will be performing on Nov. 15 and 16. Those shows were added to an extensive tour throughout Mexico. Taking advantage of their location, the reggaeton performers will cross over to the United States and will be putting on a show this weekend in San Francisco on Sept. 13, and in San Diego on Sept. 14.

Thanks to their innovative proposal and perseverance, this duo has managed to become the Latin American leader in album and concert sales. In the last 14 years they've been awarded 16 platinum records in United States and Puerto Rico, and 13 platinum records and 12 gold records in Latin America. Wisin y Yandel won a Grammy in 2009 in the Best Urban Latino Album with their record "Los Extraterrestres," which also earned them a Latin Grammy in 2008. Their song "Abusadora" won a Latin Grammy in 2009 for Best Urban Song, and was nominated for the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards in the Best Pop Video category.

They've also collaborated with artists such as 50 Cent, Akon, Enrique Iglesias, Nelly Furtado, R Kelly, Eve, Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, T-Pain, and Romeo, just to mention a few, and hold the record of the most number one singles on the Latin Billboard chart.

The reggaeton duo has also managed to sell out their concert in the historic Plaza de Toros in 2011, being the only urban performers to do it, and also reached another milestone for the genre when they performed in front of 150,000 fans in Venezuela, the largest crowd to attend an urban music concert.
