Season 15 of the hit NBC drama "Law and Order: SVU" kicks off in one week, Wednesday September 25 at 9pm eastern. Last season ended with the Special Victims Unit upset over the fact that they could not get a rapist and murderer put behind bars. The judge in the case declared a mistrial and the defendant was able to walk free. The detectives were feeling beaten by the case and went home to get some rest. The captain of SVU, Don Cragen (Dan Florek) told detective Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) to take two days off.
Benson goes home and notices something is not right in her apartment. She can tell there is someone else in her home. Louis Williams (Pablo Schreiber) the defendant from the squad's recent case was waiting in the shadows for Olivia to come home. Williams says hello to Benson and points a gun at her head. Visibly shaken Benson slowly walks backwards as Williams pushes her with the gun. The screen then faded to black and viewers were left with the mother of all cliff hangers. Fans have been asking and wondering if Hargitay would return for the 15th season of "SVU."
After a rumor or two it was announced that the actress would be returning for the 15th season but that does not mean she will come out of her ordeal with Williams unharmed. The season premiere of "SVU" is said to be dramatic and emotional. Series regular Dan Florek recently spoke with TV Line about Hargitay's performance in the season opener. Florek called what Hargitay's character is about to go through "harrowing, challenging and worthwhile. I had no idea what was going to happen," Florek said about the premiere. "When we sat down and read it...I was very moved by it and challenged by it. And then I thought, 'Boy Mariska is in for a rough ride.'"
In the promo for the new season we see detective Benson being "physically and emotionally terrorized by Williams." Having no idea their colleague is in danger the rest of the SVU squad is looking to track the suspect down before he kills another woman. In the promo we see Benson being tied up, slapped, beaten and possibly raped as detective Rollins (Kelli Giddish) is explaining to Brain Cassidy (Dean Winters) how Williams tortures his victims. "So he lets them live," Cassidy asks Rollins. "No," she responds. The promo ends with Benson tied up with a gun to her face saying, "I want to live."
