The "Big Bang Theory" returns to CBS tonight at 8pm ET with two all new episodes. Last season, the cast saw some major changes and made some breakthroughs. During last season's finale, Leonard (Johnny Galecki) was invited on an expedition with Stephen Hawking's crew. Leonard and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) have a heartfelt goodbye while at the airport terminal. Following Leonard's departure, Penny goes to visit Raj (Kunal Nayar) because he had been dumped by his socially awkward girlfriend Lucy (Kate Micucci) the night before.
Penny offered a shoulder for Raj to cry on and when he started going on about his lonely life, Penny said it was the alcohol that was making him think that way. Raj told Penny he had not had any alcohol to drink since the night before. Suddenly Raj and Penny's eyes grow wide when they realize Raj had been speaking with Penny the entire time without the aid of alcohol. Raj then began to cry because of the joy he felt when he realized he had overcome his fear of talking to women.
Now that Raj can speak to women without being drunk he will be trying throughout the new season to find his lady love. Just because Raj is able to talk to women does not mean he will do it well. Plus Raj's ex Lucy will be making a return at some point this season. Will she try and win Raj back? The socially awkward Lucy has twice run out on Raj only to come back with an apology. Lucy can't handle being in social situations and will often bail out or lock herself in the bathroom.
Lucy is said to be returning in episode 8 airing on November 14. Raj's ex will run into Penny, but there are no reports on whether or not Raj will see Lucy. Penny is like a big sister to most of the guys in the group. The last time a girl broke Raj's heart, Penny had a few choice words for her. Will she give Lucy an earful as well? "Big Bang" actor Kunal Nayar told the Hollywood Reporter, "I love Kate Micucci and would love for her to come back and for Lucy and Raj to have a relationship."
Other guest stars returning to the "Big Bang Theory" this season include Christine Baranski from "The Good Wife" as Leonard's mother. Regina King of "South Land" will also be returning as the HR representative at the University where Leonard, Raj, Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Howard (Simon Helberg) work. Season 7 of the "Big Bang Theory" will open up with Leonard still on his expedition. While Leonard is away Penny and Sheldon spend time together and bond over their relationships with Leonard. Penny's beau will be back in episode 2. Sheldon will have to hide his jealousy and anger that Leonard's homecoming is now coming between his renewed friendship with Penny.
