With a loaded field of 32 extremely talented clubs, the 2013-2014 UEFA Champions League table is set up to be one of the most entertaining in recent memory. Thanks to the inclusion of teams like Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and defending champion Bayern Munich among others, the landscape of talent is very deep, providing entertainment across the board for fans of each team and even those who may not have a rooting interest. Now that the second round of match-ups in the First Phase is underway, the standings will really begin to tighten up.

Two clubs expected to compete at a high level in this year's league are Manchester City and Bayern Munich. Munich entered the 2013-2014 field as the defending champions after taking down Borussia Dortmund in last season's final and thanks to an early 3-0 victory over Group D opponent CSKA Moscow, Bayern is off to another solid start, a beginning they hope to build off of in their next match against Manchester City. Manchester City currently sits 5 points back of Arsenal for the top spot in the Barclays Premier League but as the club resumes its Champions League slate, head coach Manuel Pellegrini hopes he's able to right the ship in this league since City failed to get out of the First Stage the last two seasons.

"Manchester City are one of the biggest clubs in Europe," Bayern boss Pep Guardiola said recently regarding his upcoming opponent. "I think they have made big steps forward. The last two seasons they didn't get through first stage but I am 100 per cent confident they will get through to the next round. The same happened with Borussia Dortmund last season. They qualified for the next round and went on to the final."

Manchester City hopes the words of their next opponent hold true since the club is set on truly making their mark in the Champions League and across Europe while Bayern Munich looks for continued success in the league and another shot at a title.
