New report suggest second-generation iPad mini may not come until early 2014. Reuters

Reuters is reporting that Apple may be delaying their second-generation iPad mini with Retina display past the holiday season. Many sources are claiming that the long-rumored Retina display second-gen iPad mini is already in the production phase, but a late start could mean limited quantities of the device will actually arrive in retail locations and online by the end of 2013, if at all. This recent report by Reuters is in line with a previous reports that pushing the second-gen iPad mini all the way into a 2014 release. The long-rumored iPad mini with Retina could definitely mean big sales for Apple. The current-generation IPad mini featuring a 1024 x 768 display has been performing well since its launch nearly a year ago. And with the new iPad mini rumored to come in a third color, gold/champagne, and tote a higher resolution screen and Apple's latest Touch ID fingerprint sensor feature the second-gen iPad should sell a lot better. But Apple and their iPad device is facing rising competition from Google and Amazon, thanks to the launch of the 2013 version of the Nexus 7 and the upcoming Kindle Fire HDX. Both tablets pack in a 1920x1200 resolution display and cost only $229 for a 16GB model. Meanwhile, the 16GB iPad mini is still priced at $329.

Many reports have suggested that Apple would be hosting another media event to announce the ffith-generation iPad and second-generation IPad mini.
