"Once Upon A Time" has made my day and just because it provides me with my daily dose of fairy tales and fun, but because ABC's hit series revealed that Mulan is bisexual. Yup, that Mulan, Disney's iconic warrior Princess who first stole our hearts with her brave and valiant sacrifice for her aging father, is surprising us once again. But this time it has to do with her romantic relationships, and sexuality.

"Once Upon A Time" is a modern day fairy tale story, where all the heroes and villains of folk lore have been transported to the "real world." The show is set in the fictional town of Storybrooke, Maine, where all the resident are trapped without the knowledge of who they really are. Their memories were robbed of them by a powerful curse, but after the shows protagonist Emma Swan broke the powerful curse, the prince and princesses remembered their true nature. Now in Season 3, the characters are building back their lost lives and making new relationships.

In last Sunday's episode "Quite A Common Fairy" Mulan attempted to reveal her true feelings to "Sleeping Beauty" Princess Aurora, but before she can get the words out, Aurora interrupts her and reveals that she is in fact expecting a child with Prince Phillip. In Season 2, Mulan developed feelings for Prince Phillip, while the two were searching for Aurora who was still in a deep sleep due to an evil curse. But now it seems that Mulan has found true love with Aurora, but she hesitates to reveal it and then feels it would be inappropriate to say such things when Aurora is expecting a child with her husband.

The audience feels true heartbreak from Mulan as she instead tells Aurora that she is leaving with Robin Hood, not addressing her feelings. The scene is devastating as Mulan leaves the castle with a single tear streaming down her face. Many fans of the show are thrilled that "once Upon A Time" regarded the love and admiration that both Mulan and Aurora have each other, while others are dismayed at the change of the original fairytale. However, "Once Upon A Time" is known for taking a modern twist on ancient legends and fairytales, making the acknowledgment of bisexuality an exciting one.
