Concussions are without a doubt the biggest concern in the NFL right now, just ask Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

"The brain is nothing to mess with. He is young and has a long career ahead of himself," Roethlisberger said regarding Indianapolis Colts' Andrew Luck’s status.

Luck was hurt in the Colts last game, which they won 24-17 over the Tennessee Titans. Luck is believed to have suffered a concussion and has since been placed in concussion protocol. To make matters worse for the Colts, they don’t get a full week off because they must play on Thanksgiving Day, against the Steelers.

Roethlisberger has had numerous injuries in his career causing him to miss many games, so he’s speaking from experience.

"I have played this game a long time and younger days in my career when I wouldn't have [missed time], and there were many times that I've said that I haven't told anybody that I had been dinged or had a concussion. Looking back on it, I wish I wouldn't have. You have to be smart when it comes to your brain because you only play football for such a short period of your life. When you have a family and people that you are going to be with for the long term, you have to really make sure your health is taken care of," Roethlisberger went on to say.

As of now Luck is listed as “doubtful” for Thursday’s game, which isn’t surprising.

In all likelihood Scott Tolzien will get the start for the Colts. Tolzien has only started two games in his career, both of which came in 2013 with the Green Bay Packers. He only has one touchdown and five interceptions with a small sample size to go by. He is an undrafted quarterback.
