Fans were not happy campers after Alejandro Fernandez recently showed another side of him, allegedly under the influence and disrespecting a news reporter. Despite making unfortunate headlines, the Mexican singer will receive a special award at the upcoming Billboard Latin Music Awards. After all, everyone makes mistakes and we still love us some Ale!

At the 2016 star-studded event, Fernandez will be honored with the Billboard Hall of Fame Award. According to a press statement released Thursday, the 44-year-old singer from Guadalajara receives the award in honor of his successful career that goes beyond musical performance and takes into account the incredible influence the recipient enjoys as an artist globally in multiple fields. The Billboard Hall of Fame Award, which is reserved for artists who have achieved worldwide recognition for their work, transcending musical genres and languages, has been previously given to Celia Cruz, Vicente Fernandez, and Marc Anthony.

Besides his well-deserved recognition, El Potrillo has also been invited to perform with his daughter, Camila, as part of this year's "Billboard Duets." His 18-year-old daughter first stepped into the spotlight after her first public performance singing "Hoy Tengo Ganas De Ti" with her father in 2014. Since, the aspiring songstress has caught music lover's attention and even signed a record contract with Universal Music and Infinity. The father and daughter recently dropped their first-ever duet, covering "Lion King's" "Circle of Life" in Spanish.

Both Alejandro and Camila join previously announced performers Nicky Jam, Victor Manuelle, Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizarraga, and a historic performance by Daddy Yankee and Don Omar.

The awards show will also include a stellar lineup of presenters. Jumping on board the celebration are many of Telemundo's TV personalities such as, Dr. Ana Maria Polo from "Caso Cerrado," Angelica Vale, Giselle Blondet, Maria Celeste Arraras, Patricia Manterola, and the participation of the sexy Victoria's Secret model, Adriana Lima. The 2016 Billboard Latin Music Awards, hosted by Pedro Fernandez and Gaby Espino, will air at 7 p.m. ET on April 28 via Telemundo.
