Demi Lovato hit the stage at the Billboard Music Awards 2016 to perform an awesome rendition of “Cool for the Summer,” following her touring partner Nick Jonas and TovLo.

Her awesome performance also gave fans a glimpse of what to expect in her and Jonas’ upcoming tour “Future Now,” which kicks off next June 24 in Sunrise, Florida.

Lovato has always been known for making a statement for the things she firmly believes in, which was probably why, as a fierce advocate for the LGBT community, she decided to make a statement with a t-shirt that had a sign on it representing mixed bathroom rights for trans people. With that and her killer vocals, it was hard for Demi not to catch people’s attention.

Other performances of the night included a medley of hits by Britney Spears to open the show, Meghan Trainor performing her song “No,” plus Justin Bieber, Pink, Gwen Stefani and more.

Kesha also made a moving comeback with her performance for which she chose to pay tribute to her lifelong idol Bob Dylan, with his song “It Ain’t Me.”

So far, artists such as The Weeknd, Wiz Kahlifa and Adele have began to win big, and we are expecting to see other artists like Justin Bieber, who gathered 12 entries (or nominations) in 11 categories including Top Artist, Top Male Artist and Top Hot 100 Artist, plus Fetty Wap and Drake who both have 11 entries and Taylor Swift, who tied Adele with eight entries including Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist and Top Billboard 200 Album, all of which she (Swift) won last year.

Other returning winners from 2015, who are also finalists this year, include One Direction, Romeo Santos, Coldplay, DJ Snake and Carrie Underwood.
