While Angelina Jolie decided to end the relationship with Brad Pitt and file for divorce, Pitt wasn't ready to put an end to their relationship. It is being reported that Pitt will not be filing a response to Jolie's divorce petition.

According to Us Weekly, the 52-year-old actor did not file a response to Jolie's divorce petition because of their custody battle. The "Fight Club" actor feared that it would be the start to a messy legal battle that could negatively impact the children.

Pitt is determined to let their attorney's work things out on their own instead of filing a response. However, the site reports that once both parties come to an agreement, he will submit a response.

The couple that sent shock waves through Hollywood with news of their split has just resolved their sutody issue, for now, for their six children. Pitt originally wanted joint legal and physical custody of Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10 and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, but all hell broke loose.

Earlier this week, Pitt met up with his oldest son, Maddox for the first time since the couple split. Maddox had reportedly choose the side of Jolie in the midst of their pending divorce, but had a change of heart when it came to meeting his dad.

The estranged couple's attorneys are currently working on a permanent custody plan that both parties can agree on. While Jolie currently has sole custody of the children, there is no word on if she is willing to split custody of the kids with Pitt. The news of him possibly filing a response to her original divorce petition may rock the boat on their pending agreement.

There is no word on if Maddox's decision of wanting to reside with Jolie will impact their proceedings.
