Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Gun Game
Gun Game is slated to return to "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" multiplayer. Sledgehammer Games

"Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" is undoubtedly one of the more polished shooters offered in the current generation video game consoles. However, critics often argue that the latest CoD is missing a lot of gameplay elements that were staples from previous games in the franchise. Now, it looks like developer Sledgehammer Games is stepping up to bring back some of our favorite content. Namely, we are expected to enjoy the return of Gun Game on multiplayer.

For fans that quit "Call of Duty" after Modern Warfare 2, Gun Game was first introduced in "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3." Gun Game also appeared in "Call of Duty: Black Ops," "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2," and "Call of Duty: Ghosts." The multiplayer game mode allows six players to participate in a "free-for-all-battle." However, players are not allowed to select their load-out. Instead, players must begin the game with pistols and can only upgrade their weapons with every kill they earn. In that regards, the mechanics are very similar to the classic Counter-Strike PC game.

Gun Game offers various weapons that unlock as the game round evolves, including a crossbow, RPG, shotgun, sniper rifles, and SMGs. The player will receive a new weapon with every kill he earns. The first person to earn a kill using each of the 20 weapons will win the round. However, a player will get demoted to the previous weapon if he resorts to a knife kill or if he accidentally commits suicide.

So how do we know that Gun Game will be making a return in multiplayer for "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare"? Sledgehammer Games co-founder Michael Condrey teased a screenshot of the Gun Game mode for "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" last Friday. What's more, a second tweet from Sledgehammer Games on Monday featured a curious hashtag that reads #2XPGunGame.

We hope to learn more about the new Gun Game multiplayer mode for "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" in the days ahead. Stay tuned!
