Carmen Salinas is reaching out to her fans and followers after finding out a stranger, identified as Carlos Ruiz González, has been tricking people into believing he is related to the actress in order to get large amounts of money from naïve people.

“I am puzzled, I don’t have any nephews with that name, and my family would never use my name to commit a crime like that,” Salinas said during an interview. “Be careful, I don’t know who he is. It’s dangerous that people can use my name that easily, I’m an enemy of asking people for money.”

The 82-year-old actress revealed that she found out about the existence of this individual when someone close to her family asked if she authorized a wire transfer of 2 million pesos ($106,000 USD).

“I’m sorry that there are people out there with no morals conning people,” the “Sueño de Amor” star mentioned. “If it wasn’t because the person who was asked the 2 million pesos called me, it would’ve been really bad for him.”

She continued, “File a complaint if people are using my name. This is the first time that something like this happens to me and I hope it never happens again. I don’t hurt anyone. I had enough with the 3 million pesos I had to give to the musician who wrongly sued me.”

Salinas may have an issue with asking people for money but she does not have an issue with giving back. The “Aventurera” producer recently joined Venezuelan actress Marjorie De Sousa in a campaign called “Rescate Venezuela.”

“I started crying when I saw the situation they live in,” Salinas said about the crisis in Venezuela. “Knowing that they don’t have medicines and they are dying. Marjorie called me to ask if I could come support her fellow Venezuelans and I immediately sent someone to shop everything from the list she gave me, diapers, syringes, and gloves, everything that helps. I ask everyone to pray so they can get out of this catastrophe.”
