Latin Times: First I want to say Congratulations! Talk to us about this new project Christina Milian: Turned Up on E!

Christina Milian: Yea, Christina Milian Turned Up is about my turned up life. Is about taking everything to the next level. Having a great time, living in the moment and going along with that ride is my crazy Cuban family. We are loud, we love hard, we are really passionate people especially us women. We have very different attitudes all four of us and our mom has been our example of being a strong woman and she is a smart business woman too. We’ve worked closely for over 20 years and now we are creating a new kind of partnership and it takes time because it’s a transition. She has always worked with me but I always kind of felt like I worked for her because I kind of had to answer to her in a way and I think is a respect thing because we were raised to respect your mother and your father. We were the type of kids that before we opened the refrigerator we had to ask if it was ok to go and get some juice rather than just opening the refrigerator and getting it ourselves. So, when you come from those kind of values I think is great to have that foundation but I think it’s also good at some point to grow your own independence. Now, that I am a mother too we have gained a certain respect for each other and I think it works very well for us now but we have years going through this transition and it takes time. She is really emotional and really we all are. My younger sister and mom are very emotional. But my mother and middle sister are really blunt and they call it like it is. I am not very affected by everything I kind off brush it off my shoulders but when it comes to my family they know how to get to me.

LT: Will we see your beautiful daughter in the show as well.

CM: Yes, my little V will be on the show. Violet she is just funny she has a ton of character. I did include her on the show but didn’t overdo it. I wanted her to have some sense of privacy. This is the first time experiencing the world seeing her on television rather than just Instagram or something like that and it’s a harsh world and crazy world at that so I don’t want it to be weird and I want her to be comfortable and most importantly okay.

LT: Besides your family being on this show is there anyone else that we may know that will be part of the production?

CM: Yes, you will see Mel B along with her husband we have a cooking session and talk about relationships. The same thing with Karrueche she is one of my best friends and we have girl time and do a shopping scene.

LT: Us Latinos we are crazy about our culture, we can be loud, we love food, etc. Do we see some of that in this reality show?

CM: Yes, you will see everything you just said. We are just like that! Food I think says a lot about our culture we are just full of spice and seasoning and I love being able to pass that on to Violet and her saying I am Cubana and it’s so cute to see that. You will see many things that characterizes us as Latinos the being loud, talking with our hands, our food, we clean the house listening to salsa music, etc.

LT: Tell me about your other projects like your clothing line?

CM: It’s geared towards women and it’s a street wear/ casual wear brand and its more about comfort. A woman feeling comfortable and at the same time spicing up what she is wearing on how she feels. I am always on the go and I like to feel comfortable. I enjoy wearing a pair of sweatpants and sweat shirt with some high heels or I can wear some sneakers and I will wear it out. I feel that confidence is key in making your outfit look the way you want it to be. I don’t want women to feel like they have to wear a sexy short mini skirt and show her cleavage to feel like that’s fashion. Fashion is really how you feel and the way I feel every day is that I want to be comfortable. Comfort makes me feel good and I can just dress it up however I want. You can check it out on www.wearepopculture.com. I also have a wine company it’s called Viva Diva Wines our Moscato is fabulous and if you want to know more you can visit www.vivadivawines.com my mom is my partner on that too.
