"Narnia" fans have been waiting a long time to find out if there would be a fourth instalment to the "Chronicles of Narnia" movie series based on the beloved book series by C.S Lewis. "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair" is now in development with the Mark Gordon Company. The C.S Lewis Company made a deal with the Mark Gordon Co to jointly produce the fourth "Narnia" film. Deadline reports that C.S Lewis' stepson will be working as a producer on the film along with Vincent Sieber of the C.S Lewis Company.
Both companies are coming together in order to develop a script for the "Silver Chair." The first two "Chronicles of Narnia" movies "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" (2005) and "Prince Caspian" (2008) were developed by the Disney Company. In 2010 when the third "Narnia" film was released, "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" it was produced and developed by FOX. Mark Gordon announced his intention to produce "The Silver Chair" in a statement saying: "Like many readers, both young and old, I am a huge fan of C.S Lewis's beautiful and allegorical world of Narnia."
"These fantasy stories inspire real-world passion among millions of devoted fans around the world,' Gordon continued. "As we prepare to bring the next book to life we are humbled and excited to contribute to the outstanding legacy of Narnia." Fans have been waiting and waiting for the next Narnia movie, it was rumored that the prequel story to the Pevensie children's adventures in Narnia "The Magician's Nephew" would be the next film. Fans have left messages on comment boards saying they are excited for the new film and that they hope it is done well.
"The Chronicles of Narnia" book series is made up of 7 volumes. The first book in the C.S Lewis series "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" was published in 1950. The film of the same name was released in 2005 and starred Georgie Henley (Lucy), Skandar Keynes (Edmund), Anna Popplewell (Susan) and William Moseley (Peter) as the four Pevensie children. Actor Liam Neeson voiced the great lion Aslan a character that is based on Christ and leads the children away from evil.
Aslan is the only character to appear in all seven of the "Narnia" books. In "The Silver Chair" Aslan must guide young Eustace Scrubb, the Pevensie's cousin and his friend Jill Pole on a quest to rescue the missing son of King Caspian. No release date has been announced for the film adaptation of "The Silver Chair" and the cast has not yet been confirmed. Will Poulter ("We are the Millers") played Eustace in the "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" and Ben Barnes played Caspian in the last two films.
There is no word if these two actors have signed on. Caspian's character in "The Silver Chair" is an old man at that point but it is possible Barnes can make a cameo appearance at the end of the film. Check out a fan made trailer for the "Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair" below!
