If Chuck Norris transformed into an NFL quarterback, he would be Tim Tebow.
Martial arts star and actor Chuck Norris defended free agent quarterback Tim Tebow this week, after he penned a nearly 1,500 word ode to the Florida standout and former Broncos starter. Chuck Norris relayed his feelings in an essay entitled "The Ultimate Clutch Quarterback."
"[Tebow] reminds me of myself when I used to compete in martial arts: I would spar with my black belts in class and sometimes they would outscore me," Norris writes.
He said that although he may have lost battles in practice, he would "defeat" his opponents in tournaments, when it mattered.
Norris said that despite motions by the Jacksonville Jaguars denoting a waning interest in Tebow, the martial arts champ warns them against skipping over the fan-favorite free agent. He said that Tebow, who was let go by the New York Jets recently, would turn the floundering Jags from "mediocre" to a "championship [team]."
"The truth is that Tim is a natural leader, an amazingly gifted football player, an inspiration to his team, and the possessor of intense determination and strategy," Chuck Norris wrote in his "Clutch" essay, saying that Tebow "works miracles" on the turf.
Norris calls out team owner Shad Khan and a number of members of the Jacksonville Jaguars' front office, saying that their attendance at home games would "recoup tenfold" any lofty contract figure.
Chuck Norris himself is not often one to endorse public figures. His most notable recent endorsement went to former Gov. Mike Huckabee, R-Ark., in his quest for the 2008 Republican nomination for president.
