Cinco de Mayo is here and there is no better way to celebrate than with a delicious cocktail in hand. In this case, five! Whether you like to stay at home and party with close friends or take the pachanga to the streets, here are some of the best margarita cocktails we have tried.

And since we like to keep our readers happy, we put together these not-so-traditional margarita recipes to give your life a little Latin twist this weekend and the many weekends to come. Ok, yes, you can have them during the week too, especially on Cinco de Mayo!

1) POMEGRANATE MARGARITA (from thebar.com)

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 ounces Don Julio Blanco Tequila
  • 3 ounces Stirrings Margarita Cocktail Mixer
  • 2 ounces pomegranate juice
  • 1 piece (s) lime slice (s)
  • 1 tbsp. coarse salt (optional)

Instructions:

1. Combine Don Julio Reposado, margarita mix and pomegranate juice in a cocktail shaker half filled with ice.

2. Shake well and strain into a chilled margarita glass (rim glass with salt if desired).

3. Garnish with the lime wedge.

2) CUCUMBER JALAPEÑO MARGARITA (from cookingchaneltv.com)

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 cup white tequila
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur, such as Grand Marnier
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup, or more as needed
  • 4 thin slices cucumber
  • 1 jalapeño, halved lengthwise

Instructions:

1. Mix together the lime juice, tequila, orange liqueur, simple syrup, cucumber and jalapeños in a large pitcher.

2. Chill for at least one hour (the longer the margarita sits, the more the cucumber and jalapeño flavors infuse into the drink).

3. Serve over ice in salt-rimmed glasses, if desired.

3) COCONUT MARGARITA (from foodnetwork.com)

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces coconut puree, thawed
  • 2 ounces anejo tequila, such as Herradura
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • 1/2 ounce triple sec
  • Dash of simple syrup

Instructions:

1. Combine the coconut puree, tequila, lime juice, triple sec and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker with crushed ice.

2. Shake for 10 seconds.

3. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a lime slice.

4) MEXICALI BEER MARGARITA (from Allrecipes.com)

Ingredients:

  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) can limeade concentrate
  • 1 ½ cups gold tequila
  • 3 (12 fluid ounces) cans Mexican Beer
  • 1 ½ cups gold tequila

Instructions:

1. Pour the limeade, tequila and beer into a pitcher and stir.

2. Fill tall glasses with ice and pour mixture into glasses.

3. Squeeze a lime wedge into each drink.

5) MARGARITA-CALORIE CONSCIOUS (from thebar.com)

Ingredients:

  • 1 ounce Don Julio Blanco Tequila
  • 0.5 ounce orange liqueur
  • 0.75 ounce lime slice (s)
  • 3 ounces light lemonade

Instructions:

1. In an ice filled shaker combine all the ingredients with ice.

2. Shake well.

3. Strain into an ice filled margarita glass or serve it up in a cocktail glass.

4. Garnish with a lime.
