Claudia Cervantes, the Mexican soap actress, celebrated her 35th birthday in arather macabre fashion. On June 13, Cervantes invited 100 of her friends to the Dolores Cemetry in Mexico City for a party that involved, among other things, a treasure hunt to find jewelry around the crypts. The Dolores Civil Cemetery is in Mexico City's west between the second and third section of Chapultepec Park. The cemetry contains thee remains of some of Mexico's greatest figures, including David Alfaro Siqueiros, Diego Rivera, Agustín Lara, Dolores del Río and Melchor Ocampo.

Claudia Cervantes chose this sacred spot as the site of her 35th birthday celebrations. As news spread of the strange event, so too did the indignation of intellectuals and relatives of the deceased. The Miguel Hidalgo Council, which oversees the Dolores Cemetry, said they knew nothing about the party: they admitted that they had granted permission to the actress, but the permit was for a film shoot, not a party. Claudia Cervantes, issued a statement along with Claos Entertainment, SA de CV, where they offered apologies.

Victor Hugo Romo, chief of the Miguel Hidalgo City Council, decided to remove Val Rafael Ruíz from office, who was deputy director of Public Services and responsible for granting permissions. In a statement cited by the newspaper El Universal, the dismissed official said he received orders to allow the party and his former boss, Victor Hugo Romo is, had said the party would be a good idea because it would attract attention from major news media. Which, it seems, it actually has. She even got her own hashtag: #ladypanteon! Check out some of the photos below.
