Actress Cote de Pablo will be exiting CBS's hit show "NCIS" where she plays former Israeli Mossad agent Ziva David. Cote de Pablo has been on the show for eight of the 10 seasons "NCIS" has been on air and has been one of the lead characters on the show.
CBS has issued a statement regarding Cote de Pablo's departure from their primetime show, stating:
"We respect Cote's decision, thank her for being an important part of the NCIS team and for eight terrific years playing Ziva David," the statement said. "Cote and CBS share a great respect for the NCIS audience, and we look forward to working with her and the producers on appropriate closure in this chapter of Ziva's story."
Here are four things to know about her departure that you should know:
1. The show will begin shooting its 11th season next week and Cote de Pablo will be returning to give closure to the Ziva story arch.
2. Cote de Pablo released a statement about her departure stating, "I've had eight great years with NCIS and Ziva David. I have huge respect and affection for Mark, Gary, Michael, David (McCallum), Rocky (Carroll), Pauley (Perrette), Brian (Dietzen), Sean (Murray), all of the team and CBS. I look forward to finishing Ziva's story."
3. Cote de Pablo's character has had a lot of sexual tension with Michael Weatherly's character Anthony DiNozzo since the introduction of Ziva. As of late, CBS has been hinting and teasing at a potential romantic relationship between the two, which raises the question: What will happen to their budding romance?
4. Why Cote de Pablo is leaving "NCIS" is a question a lot of fans are asking. TVGuide reported in February that CBS renewed the hit-series for an 11th season and extended their contract with the show's executive producer and star, Mark Harmon. Cota de Pablo was the only castmember without a deal for Season 11, suggesting that the actress is leaving because she wasn't offered a contract. That said, no reason for her departure has been provided so it is unclear whether the contract wasn't offered or whether she had determined her departure during the time of her renewal.
