Militia men, reportedly dressed as Tunisian police or soldiers, attacked Bardo Museum in Tunis on Wednesday, sending Tunisia into crisis mode. Officials report that at least 17 foreigners were killed. ABC reported that in addition to the dead, hostages were taken at the museum, calling it “an active hostage situation.”
Habib Essid, the Tunisian Prime Minister, said that the dead included citizens of Germany, Italy, Spain and Poland. Tunisian counter-terrorism forces are now surrounding the building, according to ABC. Snipers have lined rooftops, according to the Guardian.
