Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly been suffering from tendinosis as he and the Portugal team prepare for the World Cup 2014 in Brazil. The forward has been struggling with a nagging knee injury and missed the most recent friendly game against Greece, which ended in a 0-0 draw. After missing the game concerns for his play in the World Cup heightened, however Ronaldo released a statement, confirming his injury as “left-leg patellar tendinosis” and stated that he has been training separately from his teammates in a bid to recuperate. And now Ghana’s “most influential witch doctor” has claimed responsibility for Ronaldo’s muscle injury that is threatening his participation in the quickly approaching World Cup.

Nana Kwaku Bonsam, who is feared within the Ghana community, is allegedly inflicting Ronaldo with the physical injury. The witch doctor’s name literally translates to “Devil of Wednesday,” is an avid soccer fan himself and sees Ronaldo as a possible obstacle for his favorite team, Ghana, in the high profile World Cup games. Ghana and Portugal, who are both a part of Group G, and are set to meet each other in the final match in Brasilla on June 26th. In an interview with the Kumasi-based Angel FM radio station, Bonsam revealed his with doctor has been hard at work on Ronaldo’s knee for some time, “I said it four months ago that I will work on Cristiano Ronaldo seriously and rule him out of the World up or at least prevent him from playing against Ghana and the best thing I can do is to keep him out through injury.”

Bonsam’s magic is practiced at the Kofioo Kofi shrine, where he has allegedly conjured a special powder that is then mixed with several leaves. The cursing concoction is then arranged around an image and caricature of Portugal’s star player. Bonsam confirmed his work, stating, “I know what Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury is about, I’m working on him.” He continued, and revealed that no doctors of modern medicine will be able to alleviate Ronaldo’s injury, and his ailments will continue to grow. “This injury can never be cured by any medic, they can never see what is causing the injury because it is spiritual. Today, it is his knee, tomorrow it is his thigh, and next day it is something else.”
