Dallas Cowboys owner/president/general manager Jerry Jones says the back of quarterback Tony Romo has healed to the point where he has no more concern.

Since Romo was not placed on injured reserve, and instead kept on the active roster, he can technically return at any time. It doesn’t look as if Romo will make his 2016 season debut until at least Week 8 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

That game is one week after the Cowboys bye week in Week 7.

"We've got the future. Every time he (Dak Prescott) walks out there, we got the optimism of the future. It's inspiring. It's inspiring his team and then we have in my mind one of the very top quarterbacks in the league as well. So at a position that in the past we've been compromised at, we're entering a time here where we're one of the best at the position that there is in the NFL," Jones said.

Romo has not played a single game this year because of the injury, however the Cowboys are still playing very well in his absence. Rookie quarterback Dak Prescott has led the Cowboys to a 4-1 record, good enough for a first place in the NFC East. While some Cowboys fans think Romo should be given the starting role back once he returns, others firmly believe Prescott should keep the job for the time being.

The Cowboys have missed the playoffs five of the last six seasons, and Romo’s injuries are piling up. Romo still has four years and $94.4 million still remaining on his contract. Jones can save a lot by simply releasing the veteran quarterback, but that’s going to be an uncharacteristic move by the Cowboys owner.
