Michelle Gomez has confirmed that her character Missy will return to cause some menace in the coming tenth season of "Doctor Who."

Gomez made her first appearance in the series back at the end of the eighth season. The actress revealed that she would return to "Doctor Who" once again at Orlando's MegaCon over the weekend, according to ScreenCrush. If you recall, the last time we saw the character was in Season 9's "The Witch's Familiar." The episode left an ambiguous ending with Missy surrounded by Daleks as she remarked she had an idea. This will more than likely set up our heroes in their current predicament with the Daleks.

Meanwhile, the 10th season will be the third starring Peter Capaldi as the 12th incarnation of the Doctor, who is an alien Time Lord that travels through time and space in his TARDIS, which appears to be a British police box on the outside. Following the departure of Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald at the end of the ninth series, the 10th series will introduce Bill, a new companion for the Doctor, portrayed by Pearl Mackie.

As for the plot of the 10th season, Steven Moffat stated in "Doctor Who Magazine," that he would be writing the first, 10th, 11th, and 12th episodes of the series. He shared that the series will consist mostly of single-part episodes so that the new companion, Bill, could have more stories to explore her character. However, there will still be two-episode stories present in the ninth season.

Furthermore, early this year Moffat revealed that he would be stepping down as showrunner after this season wraps. Moffat will be replaced by Chris Chibnall in 2018.

Season 10 will consist of 12 episode and will arrive in 2017 and it will be preceded by a Christmas special which will arrive in 2016.
