Easter Sunday has been celebrated by Mexico City's grand cathedral, the Catedral Metropolitana. With the sound of the organ and velvet hanging on its columns, the Catedral has celebrated the resurrection of Christ in style. The cathedral's priests celebrated the resurrection of Christ by drawing parallels to a renewed sense of hope and faith in Christ who overcame evil and sacrificed himself for our sins to allow us to triumph over fear and difficulty.

Easter Sunday has become a sign of hope in Mexico. "The violence we are living in in our country, the crisis, they perhaps put our faith to the test...only a God that loves us and helps us to carry our wounds and our pain, especially innocent pain, is worthy of our faith," said Norberto Rivera Carrera, the Archbishop of Mexico. Archbishop Carrera emphasized that Christ's death did not eliminate evil in the world, but with his resurrection he gave men the hope to face it with renewed hope.

"How many wounds, how much pain is there in the world, there is an abundance of natural disasters, and human tragedies which create innumberable victims and material damages. Thanks to God that this great city was able to escape calamity: thanks to the resurrection of Christ we can see the evils that afflict humanity with eyes of hope," he said. The service at the Catedral urged followers to overcome fear and uncertainty with the power of Christ's resurrection.
