Zeta's leader 'El Ferrari' has been caught in the state of Tamaulipas in Mexico. Monte Alejandro Rubido, the country's National Security commissioner, confirmed the arrest of Juan Fernando Alvarez or Francisco Ramirez, known by authorities as "El Ferrari", one of the main objectives in the anti-cartel strategy that the federal government has implemented in Tamaulipas. In a statement to the media, Rubido said that the subject had already been captured on May 17, 2010, but in December of that year he escaped.

Monte Alejandro Rubido revealed that the arrest took place last Saturday at a toll booth on the Monterrey-Nuevo Laredo highway in Nuevo Leon. Rubido explained that 'El Ferrari' tried tried to go unnoticed on a passenger bus. He added that the subject is identified as a regional leader of a criminal group with influence in the downtown area of Tamaulipas. The group, Rubido said, has influences mainly in the municipalities of Ciudad Victoria, El Mante, San Fernando, Hidalgo, Padilla and Llera.

Alejandro Rubido continued saying "there are 12 suspects that were on the list, although there were initially of 13 targets, but Galdino Mellado, was killed on May 9. On May 14, Fernando Martínez Magaña was stopped in Monterrey. Today the arrest of one more suspect has been reported. This is Francisco Ramirez Rivera aor Juan Fernando Alvarez Cortez, who was captured as a result of intelligence work that were developed jointly by members of the Ministry of National Defense with the help of the Navy and Federal Police ".
