Federico Díaz dropped a bomb on his followers when he announced he was gay. The Uruguayan actor and model broke the news via a press release he shared on Twitter. "The day has come! Only God knows when and how. I only let myself be guided," he wrote. "I feel that God has awarded me with homosexuality, the sensation of confusion that I had and the uncertainty throughout the years of knowing who I really am has been left behind. Today I am starting to walk a new life, with no ties, no lies, no annoyances or pain, due to the fact that these feelings only depress and generate anguish in the heart. I came to this Earth to be HAPPY, to hug, to realize dreams, to take care of my loved ones and to leave a positive footprint in life."
"I am gay and I am sharing this with respect, love and gratitude to everyone that gives meaning to my life," he added. "Thank you for everything and together we will achieve more. I love you all very much." The revelation comes months after Díaz was tied to having an affair with Ricky Martin and subsequently cause his breakup from Carlos González Abella. TVyNovelas magazine published a story that claimed Diaz and Martin started a relationship "in 2012, in one of the trips that he did to New York, when they had their first romantic meeting." Federico quickly denied the rumors stating: "TVyNovelas magazine published an article without any foundation and based on lies, with photos extracted from my personal Twitter and Instagram accounts, speculating and misinforming the public. It is confirming something that is far from the truth and with bad intention, and I truly don’t understand why."
Federico Diaz was previously tied romantically to Cuban actress Lis Vega. In fact, they both tied the knot but filed for divorced about four months after the wedding. There was speculation that the reason for the split was due to Vega cheating on Diaz on the wedding night. Díaz was also in a long term relationship with television host Vielka Valenzuela, who after breaking up a first time tried to work it out a second time but failed.
