Swing Copters
"Swing Copters" release date is Thursday, Aug. 21! Dong Nguyen

Earlier this year, the "Flappy Bird" mobile gaming app became a smash hit overnight for all the wrong reasons. Creator Dong Nguyen combined simple graphics with impossibly hard gameplay and somehow created one of the most addictive games on the market. The game was soul-crushing to play and it was awful. In fact, Nguyen removed the game at the height of its popularity and criticism because it began to take a toll on his personal life.

Now, Nguyen is ready introduce a sequel. According to Nguyen, the "Swing Copters" release date is Thursday, August 21. The game is currently exclusively available on the TouchArcade website ahead of its launch. "Swing Copters" will be available on both Apple iOS and Google Android.

So what is "Swing Copters"? Essentially, Nguyen has reinvented the side-scrolling gameplay of "Flappy Bird" into an all-new vertical-scrolling obstacle game. "Swing Copters features a cute little character that features a set of propellors on its head. Simply tap the screen in order to get the copter flying in one direction and tap again to get it flying to the other.

Unlike the pipes from "Flappy Bird," the new "Swing Copters" ups the ante with annoying swinging hammers that you will more than likely strike. In the short "Swing Copters" gameplay trailer shared on YouTube, we can already see the obvious similarities between the new game and its old predecessor.

Like "Flappy Bird," "Swing Copters" will be available free for download. "Swing Copters will be available on Thursday, August 21, on iOS and Android devices.
