Joffrey Baratheon and Margaery Tyrell will be married in next week's episode "The Lion and the Rose." HBO

“Game of Thrones” premiered its fourth season last night on HBO, and in addition to recapping fans on the action in Westeros that occurred in Season 3, the series introduced new characters and some intense situations. “Two Swords” began with the forging of new swords, and seemingly new era of power. Tywin Lannister commissioned two twin swords to be created by melting down Ned Stark’s “Ice” great sword, thus adding the first pieces of Valyrian steel to the Lannister arsenal. The turning over of Valyrian steel and creation of the “Two Swords” also symbolized the demise of the Stark family of the North, and the continuing reign of the Lannisters. However, the action set for Season 4 barely even began to unfold in the premiere episode, the real drama will begin in episode 2 “The Lion and the Rose” mainly with the forthcoming Royal Wedding.

“The Lion and the Rose” will feature the marriage between King Joffrey Baratheon, and Margaery Tyrell. The Royal Wedding will be the focus of episode 2, with the single scene composing over half of the episode at 26 minutes. While the wedding ceremony will be filled with tension, the drama will unravel at the over the top reception. Joffrey’s normally malicious behavior is only amplified by the Dornish wines that are flowing freely, speaking of the Dornish, Prince Oberyn Martell will add an edge to the supposed day of celebration. While most weddings are a celebration with friends and family, Royal Weddings normally include your worst enemies on the guest list. Fans should prepare to witness the first face off between Tywin Lannister and the Red Viper, who have not interacting since the tragic events of Roberts Rebellion.

Fans should also expect to see Bran’s storyline develop more thoroughly. According to theepisode 2 “The Lion and the Rose” synopsis, “North of the Wall, Bran sees where they must go.” Bran and the Reeds are still searching for the three-eyed raven; however, fans have not yet received many details on their quest for answers. It seems like Bran may have under estimated the seriousness of the conditions, or may have never even really considered the implications of what he will discover in the true North.
