Season 4 of “Game of Thrones” has reached its half-way point, however with episode 6, “The Laws of Gods and Men” the drama and bloodshed is set to continue. Like its preceding episode entitled “First of His Name,” “The Laws of Gods and Men” is a phrase viewers of “Game of Thrones” have heard previously.

However, the association is not a pleasant one, viewers know the term in “the laws of gods and men” when discussing the guest right in Westeros, the ancient and sacred tradition states that once a guest eats the bread and salt of the host, then no harm can come to them for the length of the stay under the host’s roof. The guest right was notably broken during the Red Wedding, when Walder Frey extended bread and salt to Robb Stark, and then slaughtered him and his companions under the request of the Lannisters. To break guest right is considered to be an utterly heinous crime, breaking all “the laws of gods and men.” The homage to the Red Wedding, and the connections to the Lannisters in the title infers that episode 6 will heavily focus on the reigning family.

HBO released the official synopsis for “The Laws of Gods and Men,” which reads, “Stannis and Davos set sail with a new strategy. Dany meets with supplicants. Tyrion faces down his father in the throne room.” It seems like Tyrion’s impending trial will be the major focus of this week’s episode, considering the imp is charged with the murder of the King, the trial will decide if he lives or dies. In addition to Tyrion facing his father in the Red Keep, fans know that a trial is set to occur mainly due to the Season 4 trailer. Westeros’s newcomer The Red Viper is set to engage in a battle by combat against the Mountain.
