The Hound and Arya Stark
The Hound walks with his captive Arya Stark after the pair flee the Red Wedding at the twins in Season 4 of "Game of Thrones." HBO

“Game of Thrones” is returning to HBO for Season 4 in exactly two months, so with only a few more weeks to provide you with spoilers, I decided it’s time to unveil the mother lode. The holy grail of spoiler articles, literally ever major event and shocking plot twist that is set to occur in Season 4. Now as an avid reader and re-reader of “A Song of Fire and Ice” I already know what will happen in the TV series for the upcoming season, but if for some reason you simply stumbled apart this article and don’t want your viewing experience ruined, turn back now, serious spoilers ahead.

Now that we have cleared that up, let’s just jump right into it…Joffrey dies. Yes, the wicked King of Westeros finally gets what’s been coming to him since way back in Season 1. Joffrey and Margaery Tyrell do in fact have a wedding, but the union is short-lived. At their boisterous wedding feast, Joffrey attempts to gorge himself on a meat pie, however he chokes and dies. Cersei, who is now no longer Queen, blames her brother Tyrion and locks him away in the dungeons, although he later escapes with help from his brother Jamie. But the happy go lucky story of escape ends there, because when Tyrion enters his father’s chambers he discovers Shae in his father, Tywin’s bed, and decides to use the necklace she wears to strangle and ultimately kills her. Tyrion’s revenge doesn’t stop there, still inside his father’s chambers, Tyrion shoots his father with a crossbow and also kills him. And just like that, Westeros says goodbye to two very influential Lannisters.

Now despite Tyrion’s openly distaste for his nephew, the King, he did not murder him, it was actually the perpetually scheming Littlefinger and the Tyrells who put the blonde headed monster to rest. Littlefinger unknowingly included Sansa Stark in the assassination plot, the poison which killed Joffrey was hidden in the hair piece that Sansa wore to the feast. In addition to Tyrion being accused of murdering Joffrey, so is Sansa, who mysteriously vanished in the midst of the feast. Unaware of the poison and the successful assassination, Sansa previously planned her escape out of the capital. But little did she know Littlefinger was also pulling the strings of her supposed hero, and later abducts her. He claims that Sansa is his bastard daughter, Alayne Stone, and heads for the Eyrie with her in town in order to secure his marriage to Lysa Arryn. Things get a bit tricky once the rag tag Littlefinger family arrives in the Eyrie, mostly due to the fact that Littlefinger develops romantic feelings for the young girl, and kisses her passionately. This kiss was witnessed by his new bride Lysa Arryn, and she has an obvious serious issue with it. Lysa calls Sansa to question her, and almost drops her own niece out of the moon door for punishment, but Littlefinger intervenes and ends up killing Lysa by throwing her out of the moon door.

If you thought Sansa was in a tough situation, you don’t even want to hear about the rest of the Starks. Well, I’m going to tell you anyway. After having her throat slit at the Red Wedding alongside her eldest son Robb Stark, she becomes reanimated but is certainly not fully alive again. Instead of Catelyn Stark, she is brought back to “life” as Lady Stoneheart and joins a group of mercenaries called the Brotherhood without Banners. As for Arya, she is learning how to become a lethal assassin and we are so into it. The little girl who was warned to “stick them with the pointy end” takes a boat to Braavos, where she is accepted into the House of Black and White. An unknown, but kindly old man takes Arya under his wing and initiates her into the guild of Faceless Men, like Jaqen H'ghar, he orders her to eliminate everything from her old life, which she does with the exception of Needle. She assumes the identity of Cat of the Canals, and becomes a street peddler, selling fish and shellfish to the local patrons. Like Arya, Bran is on a journey but his is taking him more North. While traveling to the Wall, Bran meets a mysterious, and magical “man” who they identify as “Cold hands” for his incredibly cold hands. He looks like one of the Others and has hands black from pooled and congealed blood, but is intelligent and helps Bran and Hodor through the Wall. More action occurs on the Wall, the Wildlings attack the Wall as seen in the recently released trailer. But what you didn’t see is that Jon Snow commands the limited forces at the Night’s Watch, they hold Castle Black and defeat the Wildlings unorganized armies. Sadly, Ygritte is killed during the battle, however, Jon does not personally kill her.

As for Daenerys Targaryen, her story is much less exciting, which leads me to believe that her story will be fast forwarded to include plot from “A Dance with Dragons.” Simply stated, the “Mother of Dragons” settles down in Meereen and establishes herself as a Queen, while maintain a functioning Kingdom. However, she does confine two of her three dragons to a pit, which is not maternal in the least.

Phew… I don’t think I missed anything, but if I did comment below and let me know! Also how excited are you for Season 4 of “Game of Thrones” because I cannot wait!
