“Game of Thrones” Season 4 may be coming to a close but there is still a long story to tell, George R.R. Martin has yet to finish the “A Song of Ice and Fire” book series which the HBO series is based off of. So with the HBO series renewed for both Season 5 and 6, there is a lot to speculate on, first off new characters. Each season “Game of Thrones,” which already has the largest ensemble cast on television introduces new characters, and like Season 4’s “Red Viper” they tend to play a pivotal role in the plot.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Season 5 of “Game of Thrones.” If you do not want to know what will occur in forthcoming episodes do not read any further.

Speaking of Dorne, the Martell’s will most certainly be included in the forthcoming Season 5 of the series, which is set to start filming in the summer of 2014. So who form Dorne should be included in Season 5? Well, the Red Viper’s older and ruling brother Doran Martell will be included in the series. Doran is the Lord of Sunspear, however, unlike his hotheaded brother, he is frail due to an illness, but still sharp with his wit. Doran’s children, Arianne, Quentyn and Trystane Martell, who is currently betrothed to Cersei’s daughter, Myrcella Baratheon will most certainly be introduced. Despite the Martell’s late introduction to the “Game of Thrones” they are serious players who have been plotting for years, mainly since the Lannisters murder of Elia Martell, the wife of crown price Rhaegar Targaryen.

Though not Martell’s in name, the “Sand Snakes” share their families hot blooded Dornish nature. The “Sand Snakes” are the bastard daughters of the now deceased Oberyn Martell, in addition to their “Sand” surname, they get their nickname from their father’s own nick name of the “Red Viper.” There are 8 “Sand Snakes” so while they all may be introduced, fans can expect that only the three eldest daughters, Obara, Nymeria and Tyene to become recurring characters.

Leaving Dorne for a moment, Season 5 will also feature some new and powerful faces in King’s Landing. The High Sparrow, will be introduced, tired of the “Baratheon” aka. Lannister rule, a religiously inspired militant group will be formed, and in George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire,” this group yields a lot of power, mainly the High Sparrow, a member of the group that gets elected to the High Septon position. The sins of the ruling families of Westeros, mainly the Lannisters and the Tyrells, will start to be questioned, by none other than a member of the faith, Septa Unella.

More characters will mean trouble for the Lannisters, one of them being Maggy the Frog. Maggy is a fortuneteller who influences Cersei in her youth, and reveals her destiny as Queen of Westeros, but like most prophecies, it comes with a price. This exchange will most take place as a flashback, which will be a first for “Game of Thrones.” Season 4 has shown show runners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss’s, ability to create prophecies, and vision on screen mainly those of Bran Stark and Jojen Reed. Another character that will cause issues for the Lannisters will be Yezzan; the Meereenese slave owner encounters Tyrion Lannister in Essos.
