“The Rains of Castamere” left “Game of Thrones” fans devastated after witnessing the gruesome and shocking Red Wedding held at the Twins. While the world of Westeros wept, Maisie Williams who plays Arya Stark in “Game of Thrones” brought some much needed comedy to the devastating lost.
Maisie posted a Vine of herself reacting to the loss of her on-screen brother, Robb Stark, and mother, Catelyn Tully, who were vengefully slaughtered at the hands of Walder Frey at what is now known as the Red Wedding.
The witty 16-year-old recorded a close-up shot of herself speaking in an exaggerated American accent, saying: “They dead. Like so dead. Like OMG dead. My mother and brother are dead.” The video is only a mere 6 seconds long however it makes light of a very emotional scene.
“Game of Thrones” fans are loyal to their favorite characters and during the Red Wedding, some of the most popular character were brutally butchered. The King of the North, walked right into an elaborately laid trap and brought along his pregnant wife and mother. Walder Frey of the Twins conspired with the Lannisters of Casterly Rock for revenge against the Starks after Robb broke his vow with Frey to marry one of his daughters.
While Maise may be able to joke about the horrific death scene in real life, her on-screen character Arya lost both her mother and brother and is devastated. She was traveling to the Twins with the Hound to finally be reunited with family however she arrived too late. The butchering was already underway as she watched the North men of her brother’s army be slaughtered along with her brother’s dire wolf Grey Wind. Arya was knocked unconscious and carried away from the Twins by the Hound before she even made it to her dead mother and brother.
The scene was shocking for all “Game of Thrones” fans, everyone was appalled and disgusted by the Red Wedding. Maisie wasn’t the only one who made a video of her “reaction.”
