Geraldine Bazán Quits 'Rica Famosa Latina 5'; Is She Avoiding A Press Scandal?

Geraldine Bazán was reportedly one of the new castmates for Season 5 of "Rica Famosa Latina," but when the cast was revealed, she was nowhere to be found. A new report is now giving us some insight into what happened with the telenovela actress and it all traced back to the whole Marjorie de Sousa and Gabriel Soto rumored fling. According to Diario Basta, Bazán got upset that the other girls kept bringing up the drama between her husband and De Sousa as "she was not up for having her family exposed with rumors that affected her relationship." Producers reportedly met with Geraldine to come up with a resolution, but she opted to quit the show. There's no word if the scenes she shot with Niurka Marcos will air or if they would be cut completely. "Rica Famosa Latina" returns to Estrella TV in September.

The cast lined up for the fifth season of "Rica Famosa Latina" has only three returning castmates: Niurka Marcos, Sandra Vidal and Luzelba Mansour. Joining the girls in the new season are Mimí Lazo, Scarlet Ortiz, Ninette Ríos and Patricia de León. That meant that four of the participants from the previous season would not be returning this fall which includes Sissi Fleitas, Victoria del Rosal, Andrea García and Mayeli Rivera.

Before the fifth season of "Rica Famosa Latina" started production, Sissi Fleitas announced that she was leaving the show. "I will not be on the show," she wrote in an Instagram post with fellow cast mates Luzelba Mansour and Sandra Vidal. "We didn't reach an agreement and there are new things in my personal and professional life that now occupy my time. I know that the new casting is coming along great and that they will be able to entertain all of you at the level of production that characterizes 'Rica Famosa Latina.'"

As far as the new girls of "Rica Famosa Latina," Scarlet Ortiz is a Venezuelan actress best known for her roles in telenovelas like "Secreto de Amor", "Todos Quieren Con Marilyn," "Mis Tres Hermanas," and most recently on "La Fan." Mimí Lazo is a Venezuelan actress that has participated in more than 15 films and about 20 telenovelas. Patricia de León is a former beauty queen, having been crowned as Miss Panamá in 1995. She has presented television shows like "La Corte de Familia" and "La Corte del Pueblo." Patricia has also had guest-starring roles in shows like "Ghost Whisperer," "Cold Case" and "Crossing Jordan" and films like "Fighting For Freedom" and "Bad Ass." Ninette Ríos is a television reporter from Guatemala that has participated in shows on Telemundo and Univision's "Despierta América."

Niurka Marcos is one of the most explosive characters on the show. During Season 3 of the show she got so heated that she cleared up a table at a restaurant and confronted Sissi Fleitas. During a dinner party several girls were talking about an incident that involved "Mamá Niu," but nobody approached her to ask about it. That really upset the "Aventurera" actress as her "friends" were talking behind her back. She throws everything off all the food from the table and flips it over on Sissi, as they both end up having a staring contest. Niurka asked Sissi to leave, but she refused. Niurka ended up leaving instead with a cut on her hand. It was a mess that left everyone appalled. You can relive the moment here!
