Actors Kate Beckinsale, Jeremy Piven, Peter Krause and Paula Patton announced the Golden Globe nominations early this morning to continue the official kick-off of award season. Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Theo Kingma, ‘Dick Clark Productions’ executive producer Barry Adelman, joined the quartet and Miss Golden Globe Greer Grammer (daughter of Kelsey Grammer) in this morning’s anticipated announcement. The awards celebrate the best of this year in TV and film, and along with the SAG awards (which are decided amongst actors) they’re said to be the strongest indicators for Oscar contenders.

In terms of film, it was again surprising to see Oscar Isaac didn't make the list with his performance in "A Most Violent Year, but González Iñárritu's "Birdman" is representing the Latinos taking the absolute lead with seven nominations including Best Film Comedy or Musical, Best Director, Best Actor (Michael Keaton), Best Supporting Actor (Edward Norton), Best Supporting Actress (Emma Stone), Best Original Score (Antonio Sánchez) and Best Original Screenplay.

Surely Sofía Vergara isn't very pleased with "Modern Family" not getting a single nomination this year. "Parks and Recreation" is also nowhere to be seen in the list, leaving last year's Best Actress winner and host, Amy Poehler, out of the running.
