Speculators say "GTA 5" 1.17 update could be the Heists DLC as Rockstar Games conducted a server maintenance on Sept. 19. Rockstar Games

Last week, we reported that Rockstar was scheduled to perform server maintenance on "GTA 5" that would redesign the leaderboard. According to tipsters, the scheduled maintenance is in preparation for a big "GTA 5" DLC update that is slated to drop in September.

Rockstar Games has an extremely consistent track record of "GTA 5" updates every month. "I'm Not A Hipster" DLC was released in June, "Independence Day" in July, and "Flight School" in August. We would be extremely disappointed if Rockstar holds out on us this month, especially after all the havoc on GTA Online caused by reckless modders.

Although there has not been any announcements regarding a new "GTA 5" DLC, speculators expect the extensive leaderboard maintenance performed last week could only mean that the developers are preparing for the highly-anticipated "GTA 5" Heist Update. Recently, prolific "GTA 5" tipster DomisLive reported a new Xbox Live Marketplace source code leak pertaining to the Sept. 19 maintenance work was discovered. The scheduled "GTA 5" server maintenance was performed on both the PS3 and Xbox 360 platform.

The new Xbox Live Marketplace source code features a title called "Test DLC." It is assumed that the "Test" is in regards to getting a grasp on the new leaderboard. The DLC part of the title is obviously self explanatory. This Xbox Live source code leak is compounded with an earlier leak regarding the Heist DLC. Past reports have already suggested that the Heist DLC will debut a new leaderboard feature for GTA Online. The latest server maintenance by Rockstar certainly supports the rumor.

Tuesday is consistently the preferred day of the week for DLC releases. According to reliable tipster and YouTuber DomisLive, a big "GTA 5" DLC update on Sept. 23 or Sept. 30 is highly likely due. There has yet to be any announcements from Rockstar regarding a new DLC, so it is more likely for the update to arrive later on the 30th instead.

The latest "GTA 5" 1.17 update is the most tight-lipped DLC in recent memory, so we're expecting a big official announcement to drop soon. Stay tuned as we learn more in the days ahead!
