Oh geez, you knew it was too good to be true, but you clicked on it anyway. Rockstar Games announced that "GTA 5" would arrive for PS4 and Xbox One on Nov. 18. However, the "GTA 5" PC edition will not be released until Jan. 27. Obviously, this bit of news didn't go down well with the PC gaming community.

According to recent reports, a "GTA 5" PC Beta download via Steam has been floating around. A leaked image suggested that select players are already playing the game on PC. Previously, a "GTA 5" PC torrent scam surfaced online as well. Gamers that let their curiosity get the better of them eventually realized they have downloaded a massive 19GB file that possessed malware and viruses.

In response to the recent reports on a fake "GTA 5" PC Beta download, Rockstar Games issued an official statement to warn the latest links advertising a PC Beta download are all fake. What's more Rockstar warned that the recent discoveries are likely a phishing scam created by cyber criminals. Finally, Rockstar advises players to visit the Rockstar Newswire for the latest announcements regarding "GTA 5."

"Please Note: There is no pre-release 'Beta' test for Grand Theft Auto V," read the Rockstar statement. "If you see Ads or solicitations to join a beta program, beware as this is likely some type of online phishing scam. For all the official details on Grand Theft Auto V, stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire."
